Gardens as medicine for nature
Did you know that….?
– Did you know that trees reduce the effects of drought and the loss of surface and groundwater? Trees reduce the effects of climate change. They make shade and retain water. Under the trees, the temperature can be up to 3°C lower in summer than in the surrounding area. At night – 3° C higher.
– Did you know that trees improve air quality? A grown tree generates 1000 l of oxygen and evaporates 100 l of water every day. In the course of its life a tree uses 24 mil. m3 CO2 and greenhouse gases. We have more than 24,000 trees in our gardens.
– Did you know that trees act as a natural air conditioner? They make shade, provide soil moisture and effectively cool their surroundings. Cooling from a single tree equals three efficient air conditioners. Our gardens have a capacity as high as 72 thousand air conditioners.
– Did you know that trees slow soil erosion? Trees with their root system increase the soil strength and it becomes more resistant to erosion. Thus they act as stabilizing elements in nature.
– Did you know that thanks to regular mulching and shredding in gardens, soil fertility increases? Proper mulching prevents the soil from drying out and enriches it with humus. In our gardens we mulch annually.
